Nuclear Energy Must Be Contained

From Politics & Evangelical Theology :

"[S]exuality is explosive is just because it is. If there is anything else in the world that can bring such high levels of joy, love, laughter, and peace, and yet at the same time be the cause of so much bitterness, pain, misery, and discord, I would like to know what it is. Sex has this kind of power because it is one of God’s greatest creations. Remember how the creation account in Genesis “orders” everything for the benefit of human flourishing? The pinnacle of the account is the union of Adam and Eve: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). Because sexual union is an ideal of creation, it can be absolutely spectacular. That unfortunately means that sexual dysfunction is equally spectacular. A nuclear reactor in a controlled environment is simply amazing; but so is a nuclear meltdown, only not so positive. And sexuality is, in many ways, like a nuclear reactor. When operating according to the design parameters it is an incredibly powerful and fruitful thing. Outside of those design parameters it becomes deadly. As we will see, this is not mere hyperbole. Sexual dysfunction and frustration is often at the root human misery, as the average family law attorney will tell you. One of the most naïve sentiments today is that sex is something irrelevant to the public good. On the contrary, how a culture channels the human sex-drive is the kind of thing that makes or breaks entire civilizations."
